Wayne George Colby

November 21, 1946 March 11, 2026

Gonic, NH

Wayne Colby, a lifelong resident of Gonic, New Hampshire, passed away on March 11, 2026, after a period of declining health. Born on November 21, 1946, to George and Elizabeth Colby, he graduated from Spaulding High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps. A Vietnam Veteran, Wayne served with honor and proudly flew the Marine Corps flag at his home throughout his life.

Wayne dedicated sixty years to the construction industry, building homes, serving as a construction superintendent, and completing numerous remodeling projects. He loved being outdoors, both in his work and in his leisure time. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who looked forward each year to his bird hunting trips up north. Wayne cherished the company of friends and kept his door open to all. Many Saturday afternoons were spent gathered around his picnic table sharing stories and laughter over a beer. A longtime member of the Victory Club, he enjoyed catching up with friends there. His gift for bringing people together and his unique “Waynisms” created moments that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Lather Colby; his children, Greg Colby and his wife Cindy, and Carrie Tomforde and her husband Chad; his stepdaughter, Jessica Covitz and her husband Dan; his first wife, Marybeth Larocque; his brother, Edward Colby and his wife Tammy; grandchildren Cameron, Allie, and Georgia; step-grandchildren Rob, Caitlin, and Avery; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Colby, and his parents, George and Elizabeth Colby.
