Erdman, 93, of Dallas County, Iowa passed away with family by his side on March 2, 2026, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at Waukee Christian Church on Monday March 9, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Waukee Cemetery.Wayne Erdman was born on June 28, 1932, to Myrtle and Frank Erdman in rural Adel, Iowa. Wayne attended Washington Township High School and graduated in 1949. Upon his graduation, he worked with his father on the farm.Wayne was drafted into the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant in 1952. Wayne honorably served his country and soon after returning home he met his beloved wife, Nancy Leonard. They were married on October 22, 1955. Once they were married, with Nancy by his side, he was able to fulfill his goal and began his own farming and livestock operation. He continued his passion for farming until his retirement in 2008.Supporting the community was important to Wayne. He served on the Waukee School Board, Waukee Co-op Board, Badger Creek Conservation Board and Red Rock Resource Council. He was also a 4-H Club leader, Dallas County Soil Commissioner, and Walnut Township Clerk responsible for the Waukee Cemetery for 14 years.After Wayne retired, he enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the Waukee Co-op and researched and documented family history to share with his children and grandchildren.Wayne was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Nancy Erdman; sons, Mike (Dixie) Erdman, Alan (Julie) Erdman, Mark Erdman; grandchildren, Matthew (Pamela) Erdman, Jess (Natalie) Erdman, Charles (Cynthia) Nuechter, Meriah Erdman (Alex), Nate Erdman, Chantel (Matt) Rappold; 10 great grandchildren and sister Louise Barr. Wayne is preceded in death by his son, Terry Erdman, sister Donna Adamson and brothers, Carl Erdman and Leonard Erdman.Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Waukee Christian Church to use in planting trees in the community.Online condolences are welcome at www.IlesCares.comArrangements by Iles Brandt Chapel.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
