May 25, 1962— March 4, 2026
North Little Rock, AR
Wayne Alvin Whiteley, born on May 25, 1962, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on March 4, 2026. Despite facing considerable adversity throughout his life, Wayne became a good, decent, and caring man. He spent his youth between North Little Rock and Oklahoma before embarking on a life of travel across the country, living in many places, meeting new people, and working a variety of jobs.
A lifelong reader, Wayne always had a book in hand, finding enjoyment and knowledge in fiction, true crime, biographies, history, fantasy, and nearly every other genre. He possessed a deep passion for helping the elderly, spending much of his working life in nursing homes. There he formed meaningful connections with residents, learning from their wisdom while offering compassionate support during their final years.
Wayne was the son of the late Wayness Wesley Whiteley and Doris Leavine York Whiteley Brooks, who both predeceased him. He shared a particularly close bond with his beloved grandmother, Annie Lee Boyce York Burks, known to him as Mamaw, who also awaits him in Heaven.
He is survived by his children, his three sisters whom he loved deeply—Lynne Whiteley Fabing, Qurshella Whiteley, and Renea Whiteley Mills—and five nephews: Patrick Looney, Caleb Looney, Alex Willits, Ethan Willits, and Aaron Willits. Wayne will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
