He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Roosevelt Jones and Lena Rebecca Jones; and his siblings, Thomas, Micajah, Leroy, Edward, Ronald, Calvin, Gwendolyn, Violet and Mary Alice.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Jones of Newport News, Virginia; his children, Rodney of Portsmouth, Virginia, Vanessa (Eric) of Newport News, Virginia, Shabae (Robert) of Greenville and LaWanda of Newport News, Virginia.; his grandchildren, JamesJr, Raven, Janae, Rodney Jr., Kole, Robert Jr., Jeremiah, Jaide, Toriah and Jania; and his brother Jerry (Sharon) of Newport News. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Friday, March 20th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel (1601 27th St, Newport News, VA 23607). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
