Wanda May Smith passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at Copper Rock Village in Rogersville, Missouri. Born on June 6, 1939, in Douglas County, Missouri, to Raymond and Dorothy Strunk, she grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings and built a life centered on family, laughter, and the joy of being with those she loved.
Wanda was known for her caring nature and her passion for living life fully. She loved entertaining and caring for others, always ensuring guests left her home with laughter, good food, and a full plate. An enthusiastic cook, she never wanted anyone to miss a meal. She also cherished college basketball and was a devoted fan of the Memphis Tigers. In her free time she enjoyed fishing for crappie, bowling, playing softball, friendly poker games, and occasional trips to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Strunk; three sisters; three brothers; and her granddaughter, Melissa Vestal.
Wanda is survived by her children, John Barnett and his wife, Cindi, Cindy Ritter, and Carmen Brandster; her sisters, Bonnie Kennedy and Roseanne Dunn; her brothers, Jerry Strunk and Steve Strunk; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her generous spirit, love of family, and warm presence will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.
