Wanda Maxine Jones

A Celebration of Life for Wanda Maxine Jones, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Brian Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Wanda was born March 8, 1931, on a farm south of Orlando, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Cora (Williams) Henn, and passed away on her 95th birthday, Sunday, March 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Her family relocated to the Mulhall Community when Wanda was a small child. She attended school there until the 6th grade, then they moved back to Orlando Community where she completed most of her schooling. As a child growing up on a farm, there were many chores that had to be done; her dad worked in the oilfield, so she had to be his 'boy.' At the age of 10, she learned to drive a tractor so she could plow the fields. She could plow much of the ground, then when her dad got home, he would plow out the corners. She was a huge help to her parents, but she was a mischievous child too, and one time, when sugar rationing was in effect, Maxine decided to make some fudge. She used all the sugar her mother had, and that certainly didn't go over very well! She also was known to have taken the eggs out of the nests and put them in mud pies without her mother knowing it, but if she were gathering the eggs for her mother and they were broken, it would upset her and she would cry. At the age of 12, still being the 'boy' in the family, she had to help bale hay with her father. She ran the side delivery rake and tied bales on the trailer. The one talent she never mastered was milking; her mother would milk the cows while Maxine prepared meals.

She married J.D. Jones on September 6, 1947. J.D. worked in the oilfield as a roughneck, so they moved every few months. She took correspondence classes and was able to graduate from Orlando High School with her class in 1949. She and J.D. lived in the Perry community for several years before relocating to Enid in 1960. While living in Perry, she worked for the late Dr. J. E. Beech.

Wanda always enjoyed gardening and had a lovely yard and was a member of the Cherokee Strip Water Garden Society. She also loved to shop, especially for Christmas, her favorite holiday.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, and husband J.D. Jones. She is survived by her daughters, Sherri Goeke and husband Mike, of Enid, Ginger Considine and husband Martin, of Wellington, FL; three grandchildren, Stephen Goeke and wife Leah, Kevin Considine, and Krista Considine. Eight great-grandchildren also survive Wanda, Taylor and Dakoda Cronister, Kade and Dax Goeke, and Denise, Hayden, Killian and Kroix Considine.

Memorial contributions in Wanda's name may be made to The Ronald McDonald House, Hospice Circle of Love, or the OMRF Heart Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
