Walt was born on March 12, 1948 in Vienna, GA. Walt grew up in Miami before attending the University of Florida in Gainesville. While working at Southern Bell, he met his wife, Gloria, and they married in 1977. Walt worked as a City Commissioner in Parkland, FL while working for Southern Bell. He eventually stepped away from politics, at which time Gloria took over his seat as Commissioner. He moved with his family to Roswell, GA in 1985, and worked for the phone company until his retirement in 1998. Walt used his big personality to begin a second career in real estate, where he prided himself on selling houses to first time homeowners. After his second retirement, he decided to fill his time serving as a substitute at Roswell High School, where he loved working with students. Walt was an avid Florida and Braves fan, enjoying watching his teams win national championships and the World Series several times. Walt was an avid golfer, playing at courses around the world, including St. Andrews and Pinehurst. Walt also loved to serve others, volunteering to type braille materials for those in need and volunteering at church through his membership with the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his daughter, Sara Fetterman and husband Jason; adopted daughter, Michelle Pace; and four grandchildren, Samantha and Peyton Pace, and Sophia and Logan Fetterman. He will be greatly missed. Visitation is at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, GA 30075 on Wednesday, March 18 from 10:00 – 11:00 am, with the service immediately following at 11:00 am.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
