February 2, 1951 March 6, 2026

Council Bluffs, IA

Walter “Steve” Parker, age 75, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on March 6, 2026. Born on February 2, 1951, in Council Bluffs to George S. Parker Sr. and Jeanette B. (Koger) Parker, Steve graduated from Lewis Central High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1971 as a Vietnam Veteran.

After returning home, he built a life centered on family, work, and the community he cherished. He served as a member of the Crescent Fire Department and worked for many years at Allied Communications. Steve found joy in the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing, remained a loyal San Francisco 49ers fan, and enjoyed watching John Wayne films along with classic cowboy and war movies. He was especially devoted to his dogs—Izzy, Lady, Maybe, and Chocolate—who were constant companions at his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George S. Parker Sr. and Jeanette B. Parker; his brothers, George “Bud” Parker and Tom Parker; and his daughter-in-law, Leann Parker.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his daughter, Brandie (Shane) Major; and his son, Andrew Parker. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Chloey Ritzman, Breydon Major, and Shayden Major. He is further survived by his brother, David (Susan) Parker; sisters-in-law Janet Parker and Janice Potter Parker; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He will be remembered for his service to his country, his steadfast dedication to his family, and the quiet warmth he brought to everyone who knew him.
