Walter Williams, 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Jacksonville, Florida, on March 12, 2026. Born and raised in Madison County, Florida, he graduated from Madison County High School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force and serving during the Korean War. After his discharge, he attended Florida State University, where he earned a degree in accounting. He went on to enjoy a distinguished career with the Department of the Navy, serving in numerous roles including Deputy Director of Naval Audit Services, before retiring after more than 30 years of service.
Walter is survived by his wife, Renee' Williams; sons Bryan Williams (Debbie), Duane Atkinson (Valerie), Dean Atkinson (Melinda), and David Atkinson (Debbie); grandchildren Peggy Anne Williams, Chris Williams, Jeffrey Sapp, Lindsay Solomon, Travis Atkinson, Tyler Atkinson, Matthew Atkinson, Alan Carter, David Carter, and Matthew Carter; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Peggy Williams; his son, Walt Williams; and his parents, Walter E. Williams and Ruby Rowe Williams.
An avid fisherman, Walter cherished his time on the water. He was also a devoted Florida State Seminoles fan and a loyal follower of Atlanta Braves baseball.
