Walter Dean Latham, aged 79, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born on November 10, 1946, in Houston, Texas, he was preceded in death by his parents JT and Merle Latham, his son Eric Shumann, and his brother JT Latham.

Walter was a devoted husband to his soulmate, Sally Marie Latham, whom he married on April 9, 2005. He was a successful electrical engineer who owned and operated his own company, earning deep respect for his honesty and steadfast commitment. Those who knew him will remember his gift as a storyteller who could make anyone laugh, his abundant charisma, and the warmth he brought to every room.

Music was the language of his soul. He shared his passion playing with his brother JT in the band The Range Riders, alongside his brother-in-law David Carpenter in Buck & Joe, and during times of fellowship at church. He is survived by his wife Sally; his dog Roxie; his sons Dean (Kendra) Latham, Clay (Ashley) Latham, and Tony (Jody) Boatman; his sister Debbie Carpenter; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; the Royall Family Cousins; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will carry forward the love and laughter he so freely gave.
