Walter J. Haas, Jr., a devoted family man and respected member of the Reading community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 13, 2026, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Born on December 17, 1940, in Reading, Walter's life was marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep commitment to those he loved.

Walter was a proud graduate of Reading High School. He dedicated much of his career to the Teamsters Union #429, faithfully serving Bachman Foods in the shipping and receiving department. His tireless work ethic continued until his retirement at the age of 62 in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and reliability.

Family was the cornerstone of Walter’s life. He was known for his kind and loving nature, always putting the needs of his loved ones first. Over the years, Walter found his greatest joy in helping to raise his family and cherishing the precious moments spent with his grandchildren—seven grandchildren Joseph, Nathan and his wife Jordan, Sofia, Dante, Zachary, Tyler, and Nicholas, two great-grandchildren Valentino and Francesca who brought so much light into his life.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Maria (DiMarco) Haas, whose partnership and love were a constant source of strength. He also leaves behind his cherished step-sons, John Fioravanti and his wife April of Temple, PA, and David Fioravanti and his wife Julie of West Chester, PA. His close bonds extended to his sisters, Louanna Schell of Mt. Penn, Shirley Buck of Mt. Penn, Becky (Mildred) of Reading and his cherished brother-in-law Charlie Wilson who was always available for Walter when he needed a little help or a shoulder to lean on.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. Haas, Sr. and Ruth Mary (Dwyer) Haas, whose legacy he carried forward through his own commitment to family and community.

Walter J. Haas, Jr. touched many lives through his steady devotion and genuine kindness. His memory will forever remain a guiding light to his family and all who knew him. His life stands as a testament to a deep and enduring love for family, a tireless dedication to his work, and an unwavering spirit of kindness. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
