Born on August 16, 1939, Walter lived a life defined by dedication to his family.Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joyce Orth; his parents, Elsie Orth and Walter H. Orth Sr.; and his sister, Dolores Husfelt.A proud graduate of Brown Vocational School in Wilmington, Delaware, Walter went on to serve his country in the Delaware National Guard. Throughout his life, he embodied the values of hard work, loyalty, and commitment.Walter was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from the time he spent with those he loved. He cherished family vacations and simple moments together that created lasting memories for generations. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of University of Delaware football and rarely missed an opportunity to follow the team.Walter is survived by his sister Margaret Semerteen, his three sons: Dr. Walter H. Orth III (Lisa), Wade H. Orth (Robin) and Brett J. Orth (Kristina). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Wesley Orth, Kourtnie Orth, Helen Orth, Holden Orth, Paige Markoya (Jack), Alyvia Orth, Tyler Orth, Great Grandson Lawrence Markoya and many nieces and nephews all of whom brought him tremendous pride and happiness.Walter will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and a man whose life was centered around family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the values he instilled in those who knew and loved him.His family will forever cherish the memories they shared and the love he gave so freely.Friends may call on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where a service will follow on Thursday March 12th at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
