Walter A. Honer Sr., affectionately known as “Pops” and “Wally,” age 85, of Timberlake, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. Born on August 3, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Walter and Mary (née Faragher) Honer, he was a man of remarkable character and work ethic who continued operating his backhoe until the age of 84.
Known to many as “the cudaman,” Walter spent countless hours collecting and restoring Mopar cars. He loved to travel and never tired of watching sunsets from his home in Timberlake. Among his most cherished adventures later in life were a trip to Europe and fulfilling a longtime dream of seeing the Grand Canyon in his 80s. He possessed a well-known sweet tooth and held a deep love for his family, whom he considered his greatest achievement.
Walter is survived by his children, Wally Honer Jr. (Pat) and Kelli Honer; his grandchildren, Camielle (Alan) Penny, Desiree (Adam) Hlavin, Alexis (Russell) Porter, Morgan Honer, and Shannon Honer; and his sister, Carol Cowley. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Honer, and his sisters, Shirley and Jewel.
