Wallace William Giglio

August 4, 1934 March 12, 2026

Purcellville, VA

Wallace William Giglio passed away on March 12, 2026, after a rich and well-lived life shared with his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Marie (Gray).

Born to Peter and Catherine Giglio on August 4, 1934, he was raised in Torrington, Connecticut. He attended Fork Union Military Academy and later studied at Hampden-Sydney College, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. During his college years, he served in the U.S. Army as an H-34 helicopter crew chief in Germany.

Wally and Charlotte married in Richmond, Virginia, in June of 1965. After teaching together for two years, they moved to Purcellville, where they raised their sons, Patrick and Christopher, built lifelong friendships, and became beloved members of the community. Wally taught intermediate science for 30 years and was a respected and compassionate youth sports coach. He served as President of the Upper Loudoun Little League and was deeply committed to the well-being of all children. He also contributed his time and energy to the Purcellville Preservation Committee, the Advisory Board of the Loudoun Valley Community Center, and the renovation of the Purcellville Train Station. He lived his life as the very definition of a good neighbor, always ready to help others with genuine care.

In retirement, Wally found great joy in painting and woodworking. He loved quiet days by the pond with a fishing pole in hand, especially when accompanied by his cherished grandchildren, Meg, Cam, Alex, Ryan, or Charlie. He adored them and their mothers, Dawn and Catherine.

He is remembered for his gentle spirit, his kindness, and the twinkle in his blue eyes that reflected a heart full of love and a hint of mischief. He leaves behind a legacy of respect, playfulness, and deep affection for family and community.
