He was born on November 14, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan to Leonard Ronald and Estelle M Redman.Von attended Roseville High School in Roseville, Michigan. As a senior he was voted the "funniest" boy and the boy with the 'best smile". Following graduation in 1968 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. A proud veteran, Von served his country with honor for four years. His dedication to his country was a defining part of his life, and he carried the values of service and integrity with him always.After leaving the Air Force in 1972, he attended Delaware Technical and Community College, completing an Associate degree in electricity. He became a state-licensed master electrician in Delaware, started his own electrical business, and taught at his alma mater.In 1985, he moved to Tucker, GA to pursue his work as a master electrician. He later moved to Cobb County to become head of the electrical department in various offices within the Cobb County government for over 20 years until his retirement.In his free time, he was known for his love of the North Georgia mountains and was creative and talented in wood working. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop where he could often be found working on projects for family and friends.Von also brought joy to his community as a member of the North Georgia Santa organization, serving as a local Santa Claus. With his warm smile and kind spirit, he delighted children and families alike, creating cherished memories during the holiday season.He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Sheryl Redman; his children, Ross Redman (Laura), Amanda (Redman) Shelley (Tyler,) and Kristi (Brandon) Carlucci; his seven grandchildren, and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers.Funeral Services to honor the life of Mr. Redman will be held on Friday, March 20th, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. from the Georgia National Cemetery located at 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114, with Pastor Tim Emmett of Cannon United Methodist Church in Snellville, GA officiating. The United States Air Force will render final military rites and present the flag. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Grayson Ross Redman (grandson), Harris Reagan Shelley (grandson), Colin Charles Shelley (grandson), Nolyn Chase Carlucci (grandson), Brandon Carlucci (son-in-law), Leon Reece (brother-in-law), and Mark Reece (nephew).The funeral procession, led by the Patriot Guard Riders, will leave the funeral home on Friday, March 20th, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. headed to the Georgia National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bernhardt Funeral Home at 163 River Street, Ellijay, GA 30540 to help alleviate the family of remaining funeral expenses.Bernhardt Funeral Home of Ellijay, GA is entrusted with these arrangements.Memorial DonationTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
