Vernon Louis Mott, Jr., known to all as V.L., passed away on March 9, 2026, at his home in Little Rock, Mississippi, at the age of 81 following a brief illness. Born in Meridian, Mississippi, he lived a life centered on his deep love for family, his faith, and the sports and cars that brought him joy throughout the years.

An avid sports enthusiast, V.L. followed every season with passion and found particular delight in drag racing and automobiles of all kinds. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career of more than 25 years at Judge Little Sporting Goods in Meridian before retiring. Known affectionately as “Milk Man” among his close friends, he was a devoted Christian and active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Little Rock. Above all, he cherished his family and his relationship with Christ.

He is survived by his sons, Vernon L. Mott, III and Kevin Mott; step-children, Randy W. Munn (Anita) and Rendie Miller (Randy); grandchildren, Brittany Gonzalez (Tony), C.J. Smyth, Nathan Mott, and Carsyn Mott; step-grandchildren, Bruce Agent (Jamie) and Kyle Agent (Krisha); great-grandchildren, Blakeley Gonzalez and Tenley Gonzalez; and nephews, Perry Winstead and Terrell Winstead (Sandra), along with many extended family members who will miss him dearly.

V.L. was preceded in death by his wives, Jo Mott and Kate Munn Mott; his daughter-in-law, Shannon Roper Mott; his parents, Louis and Gladys Mott; and his sister, Ann Winstead.
