May 31, 1955— March 11, 2026
Powdersville, SC
Vivian Ruth James Anders, 70, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 31, 1955, in Hammond, Louisiana, she was the oldest child of the late Keever and Edith Saucier James. Vivian earned a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Southeastern University in Hammond in 1978 and a Master’s Degree in Education from Clemson University in 1990. She devoted forty years to teaching young children in elementary schools across Louisiana and South Carolina, most notably at Concrete Primary/Elementary in Powdersville. Her deep love of reading and science left a lasting impression on generations of students. Vivian embraced life with enthusiasm, always ready for the next adventure or field trip. One of her most cherished journeys was traveling to Israel, a place she had long dreamed of visiting to walk where Christ had walked.
A dedicated member of Grace Church Powdersville, Vivian greeted everyone each week with hot coffee and warm hugs. She was an avid quilter whose beautiful creations brought comfort and joy to family, friends, and the Front Porch Housing Project.
She is survived by her children, Amy Anders Stone and husband Chris, Lance James Anders and wife Danielle, Lindsay Anders Fournier and husband Matt, and Skip Ryan Anders and wife Jennifer. She delighted in her eleven grandchildren—Ruthie, Jameson, Margaret, Eben, Liam, Scarlett, Keever, Gray, Isaac, Joshua, and Micah—whom she called her “precious perfect” ones. She is also survived by her sister Cheryl James, brother Keever James Jr. and wife Liz, sister Betty Joy James Boshears and husband Mark, brother Michael James Sr. and wife Colleen, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews she adored.
Vivian lived a life full of love and kindness. Her family and friends hold with confidence that she is now with the Lord, her hope in life and in death found in Christ alone.
