Born to Lawrence and Stella (nee Gonciarz) Matuszewski on January 10, 1942, in Chicago, IL, Vivian's spirited nature and caring heart touched all who knew her throughout her remarkable life.Vivian, lovingly known to her friends and family as the soul of any gathering, was the cherished wife of Roger Pscherer. Together, they navigated the journey of life with unwavering support and devotion to one another. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Christine (Lawrence) Downes and James Matuszewski, and leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in her family, including her nephew Lawrence (Diane) Downes, niece Lisa (Edmund) Warmke, nephew Christopher (Jessica) Downes, nephew, Keith (Lisa) Matuszewski, nephew, Jim (Judy) Matuszewski and her adored great-nieces and great-nephews Katie, Olivia, Andrew, and Abby Downes.Vivian's professional life was marked by her dedication and organizational prowess. She began her career as an Administrative Assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by a tenure as an Office Manager at the University of Chicago's Argonne National Laboratory. Her colleagues remember her not only for her hard work but also for her ability to connect with anyone who walked through her door, genuinely caring about their lives and stories.Beyond her professional achievements, Vivian's interests and passions painted the picture of a woman who truly knew how to live. She was an integral part of the Easy Aces golf league for about ten years, where her gregarious nature shone brightly on the fairways. An exceptional cook, Vivian's pepper steak and signature deviled eggs were the highlight of every family gathering, eagerly anticipated and savored by all.Family celebrations, especially during Christmas and Easter, were infused with Vivian's love and meticulous planning. She had a unique gift for making her family feel special, always there to lend an ear or ask just the right question. Her counsel was cherished, her presence a comfort, and her ability to organize and plan was nothing short of inspirational.A devout member of St. Mary of Gostyn Parish, Vivian served her community for over 20 years as an Extraordinary Minister. Her faith and dedication to service were cornerstones of her life, guiding her in all that she did.Vivian's nieces and nephews knew her as a second mother – a testament to her generous spirit and the depth of her care. She was always there for them, a constant in their lives, and an unwavering source of support and love.To say Vivian was spirited, selfless, and generous would be an understatement. Her legacy is one of boundless love, service to others, and an unforgettably vibrant spirit. She was the epitome of the adage, "They don't make them like her anymore." Vivian's extraordinary impact will be felt for generations to come, as those who loved her continue to share her stories and live by the example she set.In honor of Vivian, a visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien, followed by prayers at 10:00 am.
