Virginia Smartt ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.Virginia Sue Sweeton Smartt passed from this life on Friday, March 13, 2026, at her residence in Monteagle, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family at the age of 74 years. A native of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Kenneth Sweeton and Helen Sue Essex Hobbs. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandmother, Carrie Blevins, and her husband of 44 years, Jack Clayton Smartt Sr. She is also preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Brody Sr. and one great grandchild, James Lincoln Reed Jackson. Per her wishes she will be cremated and no services are being planned at this time.Virginia was a wonderful mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family. She worked at Assembly Grounds and enjoyed her job in housekeeping very much!Her survivors include her children, Jack Clayton Smartt Jr. of Monteagle, Tennessee, Jackie Sue Smartt of Tracy City, Tennessee, Angela Mae Smartt of Tracy City, Tennessee and Stacy Ann Smartt of Gruetli-laager, Tennessee. Brother Jimmy Hobbs of Shelbyville, Tennessee, sister, Patricia Caldwell of Tracy City, Tennessee, seven grandchildren, Shala Sue Irvin, Teesha Jane Manley, Lataea Deeann Kilgore, Jamie Ray Jackson, Makayla Virginia Sanders, Jeremy Tyler Sanders, Lilly Aunna Smartt Sanders, 10 great grandchildren, Mila Sue Irvin, Izayin James Irvin, Daylen Dwayne Irvin, Kylen Jack Irvin, Aurora Jane Melton, Jamie Ray Jackson Jr., Alaya Mae Jackson, Willow Jane Jackson, Odon Ford Jackson, Grayson Tyler Jackson-Sanders.Online condolences may be made at www.davesculbertsonfuneral home.comDaves-Culbertson Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Virginia Smartt.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
