Virginia Paist ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of the Carolinas & Capital Funeral Home - Raleigh on Mar. 9, 2026.Virginia "Gina" Elizabeth Anderson PaistFebruary 7, 1930 to March 3, 2026Born on February 7, 1930 to Carl Leonard Anderson and Elizabeth Carol Anderson, Gina grew up in her beloved Minnesota. The "Land of 10,000 Lakes" remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she maintained the friendships she formed there for over nine decades. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two older brothers, Frank and Joe West.Gina's life was defined by her unwavering faith. At a Billy Graham Crusade in Minneapolis, she answered the call to follow Jesus, coming "Just as I Am." After her missionary training, she traveled to Bolivia as a missionary with New Tribes Missions. Her commitment to the Gospel remained a lifelong calling; she was a steadfast supporter of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and a devoted friend and supporter of many missionaries in the field. In her late 20s, Gina relocated to Northern Virginia and married George Howard Paist (deceased). Together they adopted three children: Sarah, Carla, and Mark.Gina's professional career with the airlines in Washington, D.C. and at Dulles Airport fueled her love for travel, often generously hosting family and friends as her guests on her many adventures.Beyond her professional life, Gina was a woman of many interests. Alongside her "sister," Geri, she rescued dogs and bred Yorkshire Terriers. She was a long-time active member of Cherrydale Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia, and later, after retiring to Charlottesville, she became a vibrant part of Northside Baptist Church. In her retirement she also became an active (and proficient) bridge player at the Charlottesville Senior Center. To all the "Agnes" in her life, if you spent any time with Gina, you were quickly introduced to her quick, playful wit. One often had to wisely discern if a statement was serious or silly, a trait that kept those around her laughing. At age 85, Gina moved to North Carolina to be close to her children. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her three children, eleven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.Gina believes in Him who is the Resurrection and the Life. As Jesus promised in John 11:25-26, "The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."
