Virginia Mae Martin, cherished wife, beloved mother, treasured grandmother, and revered great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on May 29, 1942, in Schaumburg, Illinois, Ginger lived a life defined by love, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family. She made her home in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where she nurtured a deep passion for gardening and delighted in holiday decorating. With a vibrant spirit and artistic flair, she spent many years as a talented hairdresser in Roselle, bringing beauty and joy to those around her.
Virginia shared a loving marriage of 47 years with her devoted husband, Burl Martin. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and shared adventures. She is survived by her children, Kelly Mandarino, Michelle (John) Shelton, Michael (Erica) Martin, and Mandy (Tim) Anderson; her grandchildren, Ricky (Jamie) Nelson, Carly (Brian) Trainor, Brady Anderson, Joey Mandarino, Tyler Anderson, Niko Dakuras, and Fletcher Martin; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Reighlyn, Eva, and Leo, who held a special place in her heart.
Ginger was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Hedwig Nebel, and her brothers Jim, Wayne, and Frank Nebel. She is survived by her siblings Wesley, Russell, and Dave Nebel, as well as many nieces and nephews with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
Ginger’s heart was her garden, and her family was her world. She created beauty wherever she went and offered boundless love to those around her. Her graciousness, warmth, and enduring affection will be deeply missed yet forever remembered.
