Pawhuska, OK

Virginia Lee Kendrick Craun, 84, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2026. Born on July 28, 1941, to Leon and Dessie (Arnold) Kendrick, she was raised in Shidler and later on the family farm north of Pawhuska on Sand Creek, where her parents operated the Kendrick Dairy. She graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1959 and earned a degree in Vocational Home Economics Education from Oklahoma State University.

In 1962, Virginia married the love of her life, Jim Craun, and together they shared nearly 64 years of a marriage that was a beautiful example of love and devotion. She taught Home Economics at Barnsdall and Nelagoney High Schools and later served as a social worker for 20 years with Osage County DHS. Above all, she cherished her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother. She took great pride in creating a warm and loving home for her family and found her deepest purpose in caring for them.

A woman of strong faith, Virginia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1957 and remained a devoted follower throughout her life. She was an avid student of the Bible and a faithful prayer warrior. She was a longtime member of Nelagoney Baptist Church for more than 50 years and belonged to PEO Chapter EM for 49 years.

She is survived by her husband Jim; son Jimmie Craun and wife Patti; daughter Dana Thorne and husband Terry; grandchildren Courtney Berry and husband Justin, Nolan Craun and wife Sarah, Olivia Sanders and husband Michael, Jameson Thorne and wife Sam, Jentry Thorne, and Jared Thorne and fiancé Haiven Weems; great-grandchildren Levi, Ava, Luke, Nora, Joleigh, Lainey, and Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, L.G. Kendrick.
