Virginia Katherine Trawick

February 4, 1944 March 12, 2026

Shalimar, FL

Virginia Katherine Davis Trawick, affectionately known as Ginny, passed away on March 12, 2026, at her home in Shalimar, Florida. Born on February 4, 1944, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Dale Alva Davis and Evelyn Katherine Rosen Davis. As the daughter of an Air Force member, Ginny spent her childhood traveling to many places, which instilled in her a lifelong passion for seeing the world. When her father retired, the family settled in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where she graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1961. It was there she met her lifelong best friend, Anita Hammock Rowe, and developed a special fondness for the school that stayed with her throughout her life.

Ginny married Michael Taylor and together they traveled extensively during his service in the Navy, living in Japan, Hawaii, and Memphis, Tennessee. They welcomed three children: Ellen Marie Taylor, Shawn Michael Taylor, and Jon Patrick Taylor. In 1973, Ginny returned to Fort Walton Beach and began a remarkable 40-year career at what would become Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. She started in the laboratory working for Dr. Roy Clemons and Angela Veal, later transitioned to administration as executive assistant to David McClellan, and eventually became director of Senior Friends before retiring.

In 1981, Ginny married Robert Garner Trawick, and they shared a loving marriage until his death in 2015. Together they delighted in watching their grandchildren grow and spending time with extended family and friends. Ginny had a deep love for travel, having lived in Germany and Hawaii and visiting Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy, Canada, Japan, and many other destinations. Within the United States, she cherished visits to San Francisco, St. Augustine, San Antonio, Savannah, Charleston, Memphis, and West Virginia. She found great joy in cooking and sharing meals, genealogy research, gardening, photography, and especially in gathering with family during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Ginny is survived by her children Ellen, Shawn and his wife Pam Wilkerson Taylor, Jon and his wife Tammy Huckaby Taylor, and her bonus sons Joseph Carlstrom and Mark McCann. She is also survived by her grandchildren Joshua Huckaby, Kristen Carlstrom, Keilani Carlstrom, Jennifer Taylor and her husband Robert Geer, and Steven Taylor, as well as her great-grandson Michael Geer. Her extended family includes nieces and nephews from the Trawick, Taylor, and Davis families, bonus grandchildren Carlos Flores and Jaycie Silvas, and many dear friends who were an important part of her life for many years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband Robert, brother Dale Davis Jr. and his wife Sue, and many other beloved relatives.
