Virginia Hendricks

October 26, 1947 March 4, 2026

Fort Worth, TX

Virginia Hendricks, known affectionately as Ginny, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 78 after a lengthy illness. Born on October 26, 1947, in Roanoke, Virginia, she was the oldest of five children born to Francis Brittan, Sr., and Virginia Doris (Cawthorne) Brittan. As the daughter of a career Coast Guard officer, Ginny spent her childhood moving between California, Virginia, and Mobile, Alabama, where the family eventually settled.

A graduate of Bishop Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, Alabama (class of 1965), Ginny attended the University of South Alabama and Auburn University before beginning her professional career. She first worked in the insurance industry as an underwriter before joining the commercial airline industry. Ginny built a distinguished 20-plus-year career with Piedmont Airlines (later Allegheny Airlines and US Airways) in Roanoke, Virginia, where she excelled in reservations and ticketing and served as director of charter operations. An accomplished artist, she worked skillfully in oils, charcoal, pastels, and especially ceramics. A lifelong devoted Christian raised in the Catholic faith, Ginny kept her Bible close and attended Mass whenever possible.

For the past 25 years, Ginny and her husband George made their home in Fort Worth, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, George Everett Hendricks, a retired Captain in the US Naval Reserve; her son, Victor Anthony Digirolamo, a captain with Spirit Airlines, and daughter-in-law Holly (Tomczak) Digirolamo, a nurse practitioner; two grandchildren, Coby and Blake Digirolamo of Palm City, Florida; two sisters, Barbara Lane Burgess and Mary Beth Martin of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and two brothers, Francis Lane “Buddy” Brittan and his wife Susan Grace Callahan of Virginia Beach, and Michael Ancel Brittan and his wife Susan Eileen Duregger of Williamsburg, Virginia.
