Powell and Eunice F. (Adams) Powell. She was raised surrounded by a close-knit and loving extended family of grandparents, aunts, and uncles who were deeply involved in her upbringing.She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas and moved to San Antonio, where she met Murray. They married in 1958 and were married for 62 years, until Murray's passing in 2020.After raising her sons, Gini returned to college and earned her degree in Social Work from Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University. She later served the State of Texas through her work in Adult Protective Services, where she dedicated herself to helping vulnerable adults in need of care and protection.Gini was known for her generous spirit and thoughtful nature. She delighted in giving gifts, baking birthday cakes for family and friends, and spending time with loved ones at Wimberley Trade Days. She also enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories with her family. A faithful member of her church community, she treasured the friendships she formed there and found great joy in singing in the church choir.Gini's eternal legacy will be her deep and abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Her relationship with Christ paved the way for her husband and sons to follow Him, and that spiritual heritage continues in the lives of her grandchildren who also call Christ Lord.Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Murray Barr. She is survived by her sons, Mark Barr (Marcia) and Scott Barr (Sherolene); her grandchildren, Lauren Ayala (Miguel), Taylor Dean Barr, Hallie Simmons (Markell), Samuel Joseph Barr, and Sawyer Dodd Barr; and her great-granddaughter, Talia James Simmons.ServicesA Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Burial Park North at the Dominion, 20900 IH-10 West, San Antonio, Texas 78257. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at The Messiah Bible Church, 551 E. Nakoma St., San Antonio, Texas 78216, with a reception to follow.
