He was born on September 10, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Lula Mae Smith and Virgil Johnson. He is being welcomed to his heavenly home by his mother Lula, father Virgil, daughter Iris Jewel Smith, and son-in-law Mark Manderscheid, as well as many other relatives who preceded him in death.Virgil Smith was a long-time resident of Guthrie, Oklahoma. He was a devoted and loving husband to Nancy G. Smith of Baytown, Texas. Together, they were inseparable for 58 years, creating lasting memories and building a beautiful family. He was a beloved father to his daughters Lula Manderscheid and Adrienne Smith, and to his son Shawn Smith and wife Marlene Smith. Virgil's love extended to his grandchildren: August Brown and wife Shelby Crabtree, Zackery Brown and wife Vanessa Lopez, Corey Smith and wife Hannah Smith, Nikkolas Jones, Shane Smith, and Shamara Smith. He was also a doting great-grandfather to Autumn Brown, June Brown, Elijah Smith, Ezra Smith, Gemma Brown, Gavin Norton, Zayvan Brown, and Kayden Crabtree.Virgil was a dear friend known to many as "Pops," cherished for his energetic personality and his famous summer hobby of selling watermelon. He had an uncanny ability to bring joy and laughter to everyone around him, and he never met a stranger.
