Virgil N Yazzie Sr

Virgil N. Yazzie Sr., 72, of Carson, New Mexico, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born on November 6, 1953, in Rural Carson to Sadie Canuto Yazzie and Dick Nakai Yazzie, he lived a life rooted in family and community.

He is survived by his children, sons Jethro (Lindsay) Yazzie and Virgil Nakai Yazzie Jr., and daughter Desira Yazzie; his sisters Dora Yazzie, Darlene Yazzie, Lavinia Henry, Bertha Harvey, and Doris Coolidge; his brother Taylor Yazzie; 12 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 2 great-grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters, and many other loving family members and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Jean Harvey; his sons Jasper Yazzie and Johnathon Yazzie; his sisters Dorothy Pablo and Lorraine Richardson; his brothers Douglas Ricky Yazzie, Daniel Ray Yazzie, and Donald Yazzie; and his parents, Dick Nakai Yazzie and Sadie Canuto Yazzie.
