Virgil E. Ripperda

With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Virgil E. Ripperda of Trenton, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his father Bernard; his parents-in-law, Henry and Catherine Ratermann; and his in-laws, Cyril Ripperda, Eugene Ripperda (Valeria), Norbert Ripperda (Delores), Loretta Frey (Julian), Johanna Rakers (Paul), Robert Ripperda (Kathleen), Alfred, Richard, Ralph, Melvin Ratermann, Sylvester Ratermann (Mary Louise), Alvina Voss (Victor), Agnes Detmer (Ted), Olivia Landmann (Orville), Henry "Bud" Ratermann (Verna) and Jerry Ratermann.

He is survived by: his children, Judy Wolters (Tom) of Bloomington, Karen Voss (Ralph) of Carlyle and Brian Ripperda (Karen) of Trenton; his grandchildren, Erika Curtis (Jared Murphree) of San Antonio, TX, Jason Wolters (Kellen) of St. Louis, MO., Jared Voss (Lisa) of Beaver Prairie, Justin Voss (Marcy) of Germantown, Allison Netemeyer (Ryan) of Breese, Patric Ripperda (Kayla) of Godfrey and Michael Ripperda of Trenton; his sister-in-law Rita Ratermann; and his great grandchildren, Abby, Alex, Aiden, Aubrey, Calvin, Charlotte Voss, Garrett Wolters, Landon and Grayson Netemeyer.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday, March 16th 2026 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Moss Funeral Home (105 S Main St, Trenton, IL 62293). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Catholic Church (325 S Jefferson St, Trenton, IL 62293).

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to Southern Illinois Land of Lincoln Honor Flights or St. Mary Cemetery and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 105 S.
