Violet Podrasky Puckett, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 13, 2026, at the age of 85. She leaves behind a legacy defined by her vibrant spirit, her nurturing hands, and an unwavering devotion to those she held dear.
A woman who embraced the excitement of life, Violet was often found at the local casinos, where she delighted in the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of the floor. When she wasn't testing her luck, she was tending to the earth; as an avid gardener, she had a natural gift for making things bloom, turning her backyard into a sanctuary of color and life.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she expressed her love through the art of cooking. Whether it was a holiday feast or a simple Sunday dinner, Violet's meals were seasoned with a warmth that brought her family together. Yet, of all her passions, nothing compared to the deep, soul-stirring love she had for her daughters. They were her greatest joy and her proudest achievement, and her devotion to them remained the guiding light of her life until the very end.Violet is survived by her daughters, Candy Nethercott (Jim), Violet Turner (Butch), and Marilyn Jones (Will); eleven grandchildren, Jimmy Nethercott, Nolan Scott, Lindsey Scott, Chelsea Scott, Courtney Scott, Joshua Foster, Talon Borskey, Brooke Jones, Logan Jones, Misty Carrigan, Meagan Carrigan; and five great-grandchildren. Violet is proceeded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Carrigan; her parents and siblings. There will be no service held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the future.
