Violet June Russo (Barlett) Woodbury, 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on March 11, 2026. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on November 8, 1929, to Cecil and Florence Barlett and later adopted by Brownis Yakulevich, Violet lived a vibrant life centered on the simple beauties she cherished—flowers, birds, and a home filled with laughter and love.
A woman of immense patience, creativity, and quiet strength, she was the steady heart of her family for nearly a century. Whether crafting, cooking, sharing recipes, or offering a listening ear, Violet taught those around her that true legacy lies in the kindness shown to one another. Her resilience, unwavering spirit, and deep faith remained a guiding presence throughout her long life.
Violet was the beloved wife of the late Michael P. Russo of Medway, Massachusetts. She leaves behind a large and devoted family, including her eleven children and their spouses: Benjamin and Anita Russo of Waterbury, Connecticut; Michael and Mai Russo of Pitman, New Jersey; Joyce Vaccarelli of Waterbury, Connecticut; Concetta and Heinz Steiner of Ocala, Florida; Robert and Julie Russo of Phoenix, New York; Deborah and Lucien Faucher of Woodbury, Connecticut; Marian and Charles Leogrande of Waterbury, Connecticut; Geriaco and Francis Russo of Waterbury, Connecticut; Thomas and Cindy Russo of Cheshire, Connecticut; Cheryl and Joel Kaplan of Apple Valley, California; and Charles Russo of Waterbury, Connecticut. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy.
