Viola L. McGeachy

Viola L. McGeachy, 90, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Hamilton Arms. Born in Smithfield, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Fannie (Turner) Pope and Floyd Pope.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Viola centered her life on her family. She is survived by her sons, Ernest L. McGeachy of Washington and Henry Pope of Washington, DC, and Linda McGeachy of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Bobby, Brittney, Tyler, Marcquawne, Journey, Kia, and Alex, and great-grandchildren Amina, Amanda, Tyler Jr., Prince, Peninna, and Novella. She is also survived by her siblings, Mamie Parker, Fannie Mae Bear, and Joe Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, William Pope.

Viola lived a life of service and faith as a proud Soldier of The Salvation Army. A longtime member and volunteer, she dedicated much of her time to helping others and serving her community. She will also be remembered for the warmth she shared in her home. An excellent cook, she was especially known for her delicious chicken and dumplings, and she loved listening to her treasured record collection, which often filled her home with music.
