The Villages, FL

Vincent “Vince” Thomas Scicchitano, born February 3, 1936, in Syracuse, New York, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 90, after courageously facing cancer with strength and grace.

He was predeceased by his parents, Saverio “Sam” Scicchitano of Italy and Catherine “Kate” (Foriero) Scicchitano of Batavia, New York; his brother, Salvatore “Sam” Scicchitano (Marlene); his sister, Catherine “Tina” Carroll; and his niece, Mary Elizabeth Fraccola.

Above all, Vince is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Dorothy (Thompson) Scicchitano, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage filled with deep devotion and an enduring love evident to all who knew them.

Vince graduated from Eastwood High School in Syracuse and earned a degree in Industrial Relations from LeMoyne College. He proudly served five years in the Air National Guard, including a posting in Berlin, Germany, from 1961 to 1962, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman Second Class.

He spent many years working in Human Resources at SUNY Upstate Medical Center and later served as Director of Labor Relations at Syracuse University. He also gave generously of his time as a two-term President of the Board of Directors of Vera House in Syracuse. Vince held a lifelong love of athletics. He played competitive softball and fastball in Syracuse’s Northside Major League and City Recreation League, where he was known as a top hitter. Golf became one of his greatest joys; as a longtime member of Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club in Cicero, he cherished both the game and the friendships it brought. When not on the course, he enjoyed quiet hours with a good book.

After retirement, Vince and Dottie moved to The Villages, Florida, where they embraced a full life together and formed many cherished friendships.

He is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews: Catherine (Heyward) Preacher of South Carolina; Judith Scicchitano of Massachusetts; Scott Carroll (Eduardo) of Madrid, Spain; Patrick (Hanna) Fraccola of Utica, New York; Carl (Debra) Foriero of Baldwinsville, New York; Vincent (Amy) Foriero of Liverpool, New York; and Mary (Roshan) Patel of Westport, Connecticut.

Vince will be remembered for his devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his long and full life.
