Victoria Freeberg ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc on Mar. 17, 2026.Victoria Jane FreebergNovember 1, 1947 - March 15, 2026Victoria Freeberg lived her life the way she believed it should be lived - on her own terms, with courage, humor, and a stubborn streak that underscored her determination to live life fully each day.Born in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada on November 1, 1947, Victoria grew up in Warroad, Minnesota, where her independent spirit was already beginning to take shape. Over the years she called many places home - Chicago, Illinois; Shoreview, Minnesota; Naples, Florida; and finally International Falls, Minnesota - each chapter reflecting her love of adventure, sunshine, and doing things exactly her way.Victoria passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in International Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, Duncan William and Margaret Mae Freeberg; her sister, Margaret Guilbault; and her son-in-law, Bruce Christopher Travis. She is survived by her three children: Michael Ralph Lundemo of International Falls, Minnesota; James David (& Christine Bombay) Lundemo of Cook, Minnesota; and Sara Anne (Lundemo) Travis of Brandon, South Dakota. She also leaves behind a lively and growing family of grandchildren: Michael David Luedtke, Katie Elizabeth Lundemo, Jacob Victor Lundemo, Luke Allen Lundemo, Megan Leigh Travis, Fiona Grace Travis, Christian Joel (Abby, Carter, and Cecelia) Bloom, and Ashley Lee Pullar. She is also survived by her brother William Freeberg and nephews.Victoria shared three children with her first husband, David Eddy Lundemo, to whom she was married from 1968 to 1980. She was later married to Woodbury Palmen from 1981 to 1988.To know Victoria was to know strength. She was strong, courageous, and fiercely independent - never afraid to forge her own path, even when that path had a few unexpected turns. One of her proudest accomplishments was her 45 years in recovery. During those decades she became a mentor and lifeline to countless women walking the difficult road to sobriety. She never forgot where she came from and spent much of her life helping others find their way forward. When she wasn't helping others, Victoria found joy in simpler treasures: the warm sunshine and white beaches of Southwest Florida, and the thrill of discovering the perfect hidden gem while thrift shopping. If there was a bargain to be found, Victoria was determined to find it.She was also a woman of remarkable talents. Victoria was a gifted seamstress - so resourceful with a sewing machine that family often joked she was the "MacGyver of Sewing." If something needed fixing, altering, or inventing out of fabric, she could make it happen. Her creativity extended to the kitchen as well, where she was known as a wonderful baker and an incredible cake decorator. Many birthdays and celebrations were made sweeter by her skill and love.Victoria lived boldly, loved fiercely, and helped more people than she probably ever realized. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the lives she helped change, and the many lessons she quietly passed along: stay strong, keep going, and never be afraid to make something beautiful out of whatever life hands you.She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered - with love, laughter, and perhaps a slice of cake. Victoria's family wishes to thank each of her caregivers at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Victora's last days were peaceful and filled with love from all the caring staff. A celebration of life will be planned for later this year when her family hopes friends will share joyful memories. If you wish to make a donation in Victoria's memory, the family requests donations be made to the Borderland Alano Club in International Falls, Minnesota. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
