Vickie Vacek ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Greenlawn Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries on Mar. 12, 2026.Vickie Lee Aills Vacek, 70, of Sugar Land, Texas, peacefully departed this life on March 11, 2026, at SPJST#2 Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Needville, Texas after a lengthy battle with Stage 3 atypical meningioma and its complications.Vickie was born January 20, 1956, in Beaumont, Texas, the only child of Richard Hardin Aills and Lee Ingram Aills Martinez. She was raised in Beaumont and graduated from Forest Park High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from Lamar University where she was also involved with Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She worked in the social services field for over 35 years for the state primarily serving people with intellectual disabilities and Texana Center from where she retired in 2015. On December 14, 1998, she married Mark John Vacek, Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada, then convalidated their marriage on June 22, 2002, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land.Vickie did not have hobbies; she had passions. She was passionate about jewelry and fashion, music and dance, Broadway musicals, travel, true crime stories, Turner Movie Classics, manicures, spa days and shopping, and advocacy for the underdog (people and animals). But her greatest passion was her love for Mark, family, friends and pets…and not always necessarily in that order. During her life she loved boat days in Matagorda, family trips to the river, girl trips to New York City and DC to name a few, trips with Mark and other couples to Hawaii/Cabo/etc., lunches with her dad at Fredonia, Aggie Football and Texas Tech Baseball, Happy Hours at Perry's, martinis with friends and cocktails at iconic restaurants and hotels, Mexican food, good co ee, and spending time curled up on the couch in her robe with her dog. Vickie once described her key to lifelong relationships as remaining true to herself…always being Vickie. She will truly be missed by all who loved her for simply just being Vickie. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Mark, as well as many extended family and friends including a new great nephew and great niece.
