Vickie Schanke ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Hillside Chapel on Feb. 27, 2026.On February 26, 2026, Vickie Jean Schanke, 73, of Minneapolis, MN passed away at her home surrounded by her family.Vickie was preceded in death by her father Stanley Hatcher, mother Jean (Warn) Hatcher, brothers Jimmy Hatcher, Tim Hatcher, and Skipper Hatcher, sisters Suzie (Hatcher) Kramer, and Patty (Hatcher) Foley, and grandson Andrew Schanke. She is survived by husband David Schanke, sons Jim Schanke (Lisa) and Joey Schanke (Denice), great-grandson Andrew Jr., along with many nieces and nephews.Vickie was known for her fierce and unconditional love for her family. Her grandson Andrew and great-grandson Andrew Jr. brought her great happiness. Vickie worked for the Minneapolis Public Schools for many years as a dedicated lunchlady and was loved by all the staff and school children she served. In her early years she also spent time working as a server at the Diner in Minneapolis alongside her mother. Vickie loved to spend time at Lake Lougee at the cabin she shared with her husband Dave. Long pontoon rides brought Vickie great peace, and was definitely her "happy place". Vickie was also known for always making sure anyone who visited as well accommodated and certainly well fed; she was an amazing cook as anyone who was lucky enough to experience it would know. Vickie was an incredibly caring person and never turned anyone she knew away, often providing a place to stay for family members and friends. Vickie will be truly missed by many.Memorial service 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, with visitation one hour prior at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel, 2610 19th Ave NE, Minneapolis.
