Layton, UT
Vicki Rae Newbold Rich, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Layton, Utah, on March 9, 2026.
Born on February 17, 1948, in Murray, Utah, to LaMar and Marvella Sharp Newbold, Vicki was raised in Midvale. On October 25, 1973, she married Grant Neil Rich in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1976 the couple built their home in Layton, where she lived for the rest of her life.
From an early age Vicki developed a deep passion for sewing. She honed her skills while working at Beehive Clothing and became a gifted seamstress and quilter, creating many cherished pieces for family and friends. Later she served as librarian at King Elementary School for more than fifteen years before retiring. She took great pride in her home, maintaining an immaculately landscaped yard with abundant flower beds and a thriving garden. Above all, she embodied the spirit of motherhood, filling her home with home-cooked meals, hand-sewn clothing, and unwavering care and devotion for her family.
Spending time with her loved ones meant everything to Vicki. She especially treasured her role as grandmother and made every effort to attend her grandchildren’s activities and events. She is survived by her three sons, Dirk (Trina), Colby (Amanda), and Marty (Meghan) Rich; seven grandchildren, Skyler, Wesley (Alyssa), Emmalee, Matthew, Ethan, Bradley, and Carter Rich; and her sister, Dixie Bess. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grant Neil Rich, and her parents, LaMar and Marvella Newbold.
