Vicki Lee Papke

Vicki Lee Papke, age 71, of Grand Island, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Grand Island Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Omaha on May 17, 1954, to Richard and Joann (Wait) Huey, Vicki graduated from Blair High School in 1973 and from the Grand Island School of Business in 1974 with an Executive Secretarial degree. She met Harlen Papke in February of 1974, and the couple married on November 30, 1974. Vicki worked as a legal secretary for Joseph Martin before joining St. Francis Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, where she remained until her retirement.

A devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vicki sang in the contemporary choir. She found joy in photography, gardening, camping, traveling, baking, and caring for her pets. Known for her warm hospitality, she welcomed family and friends into her home to celebrate many holidays.

She is survived by her husband, Harlen; son, Nicholas (Ashley) Papke of Grand Island; daughter, Christa (Mark) Pierce of Estes Park, Colorado; and many extended family members and friends. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents.
