Vicki Lee Burton
March 8, 1959— March 10, 2026
Lindstrom, MN
Vicki Lee Burton, born March 8, 1959, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 10, 2026, at the age of 67.
Born while her father served in the Air Force, Vicki’s early life was marked by frequent moves and limited familial support. From these challenging beginnings, she grew into a resilient, willful, intelligent, creative, and deeply passionate woman. Even in times of scarcity, she found joy in making beautiful things for others, transforming scraps of fabric into life-size cacti, painting murals on her cabinets, and designing elaborate costumes with remarkable ingenuity.
Later in life, Vicki found lasting peace when she met and built a life with her beloved husband, Mark Burton. Together they created a unique home in the woods that granted them a freedom few experience. There she designed her masterpiece, the Music Quilt, an intricate work adorned with thousands of beads and featuring iconic images such as the Yellow Submarine and the Rolling Stones mouth. She spent her days painting, sewing, planting, cooking, and listening to the songs of the birds. Though the years after Mark’s passing were difficult, Vicki remained at peace in her final days, still tending her plants, enjoying the birds, and finding quiet contentment.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Burton, her mother, Carol Zamudio, her father, William Wing, and her daughter, Jamie. Vicki is survived by her daughters Hannah Haberer and Laura Schenk, her grandchildren Addy Stenger, Klara Haberer, and Kai Haberer, her brother Michael Wing, and many other loving family members, friends, and housemates.
