Veronica W. Longo

Veronica (Wajda) Longo, 78, of Columbia, passed away on March 14, 2026. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Paul Longo.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut on June 13, 1947 to Anastasia and Adam Wajda, Veronica earned her bachelor’s degree from UCONN in 1969 and her master’s in teaching in 1975. She devoted several years to raising her children before returning to the classroom, where she taught at Bolton Elementary School for nearly three decades. A lifelong Huskies fan, she never missed a UConn women’s basketball game.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Kane and her husband Timothy, and Stacey Longo and her partner Matthew, as well as two grandsons, Nathan and Evan Kane, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her two sisters, Joanne Oblinger and Stephanie Lombardo.

Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the Saint Francis Hospital Cardiac ICU for their compassionate care.
