Vernon Tracy

Fresno, CA

Vernon Jack Tracy, born in Long Beach, California on January 26, 1936, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Jack died as he had lived his life, with purpose and kindness. Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force, with the highlight of his service being a disc jockey at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland, bringing music and connection to fellow service members on KOLD. Following his military service, Jack attended Fresno State University and graduated with a BS in Criminology. From 1963 to 1995 he worked as a Fresno County Probation Officer. He then went on to do background checks for Fresno County Probation. In 1998, he worked at Fresno City College Police Academy. In 2013 he was appointed to the Fresno Civil Service Board, where he served until 2025. Jack is predeceased by his first wife Pat Tracy, daughter Laura Schneider, sister Patte Peters and brother Michael Tracy. Jack is survived by his wife Cedricka (children Joshua, Matthew (Kristine) and Eric Smith); sister Karen Williams, sister-in-law Shirley Tracy, son-in-law Kevin Schneider; grandchildren Ian and Lindsay Stoner, Kira and Matthew Smith, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Jack will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. We will miss his gentle nature, warm smile, great laugh, and the wild and crazy way he drove a car. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve Trail in Cambria, California or the Central California Food Bank.
