Vernon Lee “Shine” Lindsey
Bobby Shine Lindsey, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 12, 2026, surrounded by both of his sons and his beloved little sister.
Shine was born into this world on September 6, 1934, a gift from God to his parents’ Vernon A. and Bobbie Lindsey. He was raised during his younger years at the family home in Stoney Point, where as a young boy, he once chased a chicken inside and then “down into” the family outhouse!
The family eventually moved into town, where Bob became a proud Beebe Badger, playing football and learning tough life lessons from legendary coach Bro Erwin. After high school graduation in 1952, Bobby Shine joined the Arkansas Army National guard, where he proudly served for exactly 41 years 11 months. His retirement was official on September 30, 1994, on his granddaughter Emily’s 5th birthday. But long before retirement, Shine became a father of two sons, raising them proudly in Beebe while serving his country during the turbulent 1960’s and 70’s.
Bobby Shine was a skilled horseman, a passion and lifestyle that is still carried on to this day by his youngest son Benji. Shine was also a season ticket holder to Arkansas Razorback Football games during the 70’s and 80’s, instilling a lifelong love of the Hogs into his oldest son Russ.
Near the end of his career, Bobby Shine became a proud grandfather to Emily and Dillon. And after retirement, he watched over the years as his family grew even more with the births of his 9 great-grandchildren.
Bob was an avid motorcycle enthusiast for many years, travelling across the country from Alaska to Florida with his wife Jane both on his bike and in their RV. But around the town of Beebe, Shine became known as a legendary “conversationalist” at every coffee shop that ever existed. He greeted everyone with a smile, but if you didn't want his opinion, you better not ask! He told the truth, sometimes stretching it just a bit, to many great friends that he made throughout the years, including his buddies’ Ray Haymes and the late Bob “Mr” Cannon.
Shine was a proud lifelong member of the Beebe First United Methodist Church, as well as the Beebe Masonic Lodge. He served his community for decades as a member of both the Beebe Housing Authority and the Beebe Water Department. He also took pride in being a member of the Beebe Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.
There's a loud commotion going on up in Heaven today. But don't worry, Lord, it's just ol’ Shine Lindsey making the Angels laugh out loud until they cry!
Bobby Shine is survived by his sister Sandy Lindsey Garner (C.C.), sons Russell Lee Lindsey (Annie) and Benjiman Myers Lindsey (Suzanne), Grandchildren Emily Ellis (Heather) and Dillon Lindsey (Amber), 8 great-grandchildren Jason, Triston, Tucker, Emberlyn, Thomas, Lilah Belle, Lainlee, and Onyx, nephew Larry (Sonya) and niece Lindsey (Mark), and mother to his sons, Jeannie Lindsey.
He is preceded in death by his parents Vernon A. and Bobbie Lindsey, wife Jane Lindsey, and great-granddaughter Indigo Starr Lindsey.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Beebe First United Methodist Church with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm. Entombment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that donations be made to the church.
