Vernon Jeff Carter

Vernon Jeff Carter, age 76 years, of Whitley City, Kentucky died Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on December 17, 1949 the son of the late Marion Lee Carter and Wilba (Jeffers) Carter Walker. Jeff had been a manager at Parts City Auto Parts, and enjoyed working on cars, being in gun competitions for Black Powder and Cowboy contest.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marion Lee Carter; mother Wilba Walker (Charles); and a brother, Merial Carter.

Survivors include his son, Clayton Carter of Whitley City, Kentucky; special friend, Jane McCoy and grandson, Coleman McCoy; mother of Clayton, Kathy Morgan of Burkesville, Kentucky; and sisters, Sandy Morrow (Mark) of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Monique Watson (Donnie) of Ravenna, Kentucky, Siotha Taylor (JR) of Stearns, Kentucky, Tessa McClendon of Whitley City, Kentucky, Vanessa Smith (Tony) of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, Nancy Carter, Kim, Gayle Hays, Laurel Martens, Stacey, Kathy.

Funeral Services will be 11am Friday, March 20, 2026 at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Rock Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6pm Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Funeral Home.
