Though his parentseventually separated, Vernon remained surrounded by family who cared deeply for him.During his youth, Vernon relocated to Canada with his mother, a decision she made to protect herson and give him a chance at a better life. Those early years were filled with both hardship andformative experiences that would shape the strong-willed and fearless man he would laterbecome. There he met friends (the Wringwood family, Robbin, and Andrew). They became aninseparable crew.Eventually, his mother remarried John, who became a loving and stabilizing father figure inVernon's life. Together they shared many fond memories, including trips to Alabama that Vernoncherished deeply. John loved Vernon as his own son and treated him no differently, somethingVernon carried with pride throughout his life.As a teenager, Vernon developed a reputation for being bold, rebellious, and unforgettable. Hespent time between Toronto and Philadelphia with his biological father Vernon Sr., where heembraced the culture and energy of the era. Influenced by the music, style, and spirit of the 1990ship-hop generation, Vernon became known for his fearless personality, love of cars, andmagnetic presence. His close friends, Von, Thorpe, Patricia, and Joey, stood beside him duringthese unforgettable years. In his late twenties, Vernon met Ellen, a relationship that would change the course of his life forever. From that union, his daughter Alyssa English was born. Even before Alyssa's birth,Vernon had embraced fatherhood by stepping into the role of father to Ellen's children Samueland Porsha, whom he loved deeply and proudly called his own. Though life brought challenges and difficult choices, Vernon never stopped loving his children orfeeling proud of his role as a father.Seeking a fresh start and distance from the life he once lived, Vernon relocated to Florida, wherehis father had purchased a home in Ocala. There he reunited with his extended family and built anew chapter of his life. Vernon cherished the opportunity to live close to his sister Verlinda(Arlene) and her husband Otis, and he loved being present for his nieces, nephews, and cousins.Among those closest to him were his beloved cousins Jackie, Monica, Patrice, PJ, Eric, Brian,Tracy, Elizabeth, Nicki, Maegan, Marsha, Rochelle, and Jacqualyn, whom he protected andadored. Not long after settling in Florida, Vernon met Lisa McCoy. Their connection was immediate andpowerful. They married and remained together for nearly thirty years, building a life and familyside by side through every triumph and hardship. Lisa brought three children into the marriage,Avion, Jontae, and Johnisha, whom Vernon embraced and raised as his own. Together, Vernonand Lisa also welcomed their son, Vernon Xavier English. One of Vernon's greatest sources of pride was his son, Vernon Xavier English. He admired hisson's creativity and talent deeply, especially his natural musical ability, which he believed was agift meant to be shared with the world. Vernon often spoke proudly of the passion and dedicationhis son brought to music.Beyond music, Vernon also passed down many of the skills and traditions that defined him. Hetaught his son the art of barbering and shared with him his love of cooking. Simple moments thatbecame lasting bonds between father and son. In many ways, Vernon Xavier carries forwardpieces of his father's spirit, talent, and character into the next generation.Vernon spent many years working as both a mechanic and a truck driver. He possessedremarkable mechanical talent and was certified to operate heavy machinery of many kinds. Heloved engines, trucks, and anything that moved fast.Later in life, Vernon faced serious health challenges that dramatically altered his physicalabilities. After a severe infection nearly cost him his leg, he endured extensive surgeries and skingrafts. The experience changed his life and forced him to slow down after decades of living atfull speed. Though the physical toll was heavy, Vernon continued to find joy in family. One of his greatest joys was becoming a grandfather to Ky'Leigha, Jontae Jr., Calvinia, Zhavia, and Larissa.Perhaps the deepest bond Vernon shared was with his daughter Alyssa. Raised by the same parents (grandparents) who loved them both, the two shared an understanding of each other thatfew people could comprehend. Their relationship was not only father and daughter… it wasfriendship, loyalty, and a lifelong alliance between two people who truly knew one another'shearts.Vernon had the blessing of witnessing Alyssa build her life, find love and become a mother. Hebonded with Alyssa's maternal sister Sasha, telling stories about their childhoods and claiming her as his own. He was especially proud to become a biological grandfather with the birth of hisgrandson, Adonis, who carries his grandfather's features and spirit forward into the nextgeneration. Those who knew Vernon knew that he lived boldly, loved fiercely, and left an unforgettableimpression on everyone he met.His life was complex, colorful, and deeply human but above all else, it was filled with love forhis family.Vernon's legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and thecountless memories shared with those who knew him best.He will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, his larger-than-life personality, and the lovehe carried for those closest to him.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
