Verna L. McDermott

Verna L. McDermott, age 93, of Harwick and formerly of Penn Hills, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Gayle and George Young. Verna was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. McDermott, Sr. She was a loving mother to Susan (Raymond) Milewski, Verna (Steven) Budz, the late Robert McDermott, the late Joseph P. McDermott, Jr., and the late Michael McDermott (surviving Lori). She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica (Corey), Drew, Jaqueline, Matthew (Kayleigh), and Joshua (Lindzee), and the great-grandmother of Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by four siblings.

Verna lived her life to the fullest, guided by an independent spirit that came from her heart and soul. Her greatest strength was her family, and she showed deep compassion through her lifelong care for others.
