Verline Pearsall Walker Kenndey

Verline Pearsall Walker Kennedy, born November 22, 1941, in Pender County, North Carolina, departed this life on March 6, 2026, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. After a rapid decline in health, she transitioned peacefully. Verline was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was born to the late William Henry Pearsall and Lille H. Dixon Pearsall. Upon graduating from C. F. Pope High School, she married Joseph Robert Lee Walker, Sr. of Burgaw, North Carolina.

From this union, three children were born: Cerece Lavonne, Deborah Linette, and Joseph Robert Lee Walker, Jr.

Verline loved to pray and faithfully intercede for her family. She often spent long hours, even through the night, praying before the Lord. Because of her dedication to prayer, she was crowned “Queen of Prayer” by Bishop Rayford Hankins of Full Gospel Christian Church in Burgaw, North Carolina.

Verline was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Homegoing Service celebrating Verline’s life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. John United Holy Church in Burgaw, North Carolina.

A viewing will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel, located at 810 West Wilmington Street, Burgaw, North Carolina 28425.

Interment will follow at Burgaw Cemetery in Burgaw, North Carolina.

Family and friends are invited to a fellowship immediately following the interment at the Pearsall Homestead, located at 306 South Smith Street, Burgaw, North Carolina 28425.
