Verda Babe Rost

December 5, 1933 March 4, 2026

Washington Terrace, UT

Verda Babe Rost, born December 5, 1933, in Wendell, Idaho, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. The youngest child of Albertine and Frank Rost Sr., she grew up on the family farm, where her playmates included cousins and farm animals. This simple, joyful childhood nurtured in her a lifelong love for both people and animals.

As a young woman, Verda moved to Washington Terrace, Utah, where she worked for the Amalgamated Sugar Company and made her home for the rest of her life. A woman of deep faith, she was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, including with music, the Young Women, the Singles program, and as a Primary teacher, a calling she cherished because of her genuine love for children. Verda never missed an opportunity to testify of God’s love. She would often take someone’s hand, draw them close, and tell them how much they mattered to her and to their Heavenly Father, whether they were family, friends, or strangers.

A true patriot, Verda volunteered for many years with the Weber County Republican Party. She informed voters, supported worthy candidates, and served in leadership roles, earning numerous service awards for her dedication to the cause of liberty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Sr. and Albertine; her brothers, Frank Jr., Wayne, and Roy; and her sister, Grace. Verda is remembered with love by those she leaves behind, who know that others on the other side greeted her with joy, saying, “Verda, we missed you so.”
