Vera Massingale

Vera Massingale, aged 72, of Mills River, North Carolina, passed away on March 8, 2026, after a short illness. Born on July 19, 1953, in Brevard, North Carolina, she lived a life centered on deep love and unwavering dedication to her family.

Her greatest joy was found in her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Vera is survived by her beloved daughter, Athena Justus, and Athena’s husband, Cliff; her cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Zane, and Darren; and her precious great-grandson, Jettson. She was preceded in death by her son, Zane Massingale.

Vera’s family will always remember her as their secret keeper, soft place to land, and best friend. She moved heaven and earth for those she loved, greeting them with warm hugs and her special “hey baby.” She loved her three grandchildren fiercely and lit up with pure happiness at the sight of her new great-grandson, Jettson. Her memory remains a lasting source of strength and love for all who knew her.
