Vera Mae Rushing

Vera Mae Rushing of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 87. She lived a full life surrounded by family and friends who will cherish her memory for years to come.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Della Mae Sampson and James Cecil Sampson Sr.; her grandson, Dominick Stephens; and her siblings, James Cecil Sampson Jr., Herschell Sampson, Eloise Pickens, and Gail Sampson.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Norman Rushing of Wynnewood; her daughters, Cassandra Stephens of Tulsa, Della Phelps of Holdenville, and Charlemayne Hill of Sulphur, Oklahoma; her grandson, Alfred Phelps III; her great-grandchildren, Amia Phelps and Amir Phelps; and her siblings, Carl Sampson and Victor Sampson of Wynnewood, and Mary Ellen Gates of Ft. Worth, Texas. Vera is also survived by many step-children, cousins, and a wide circle of loving family and friends.
