Veda Porter ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary on Mar. 14, 2026.Veda Miriam Jensen Porter, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away March 10, 2026 in St. George, UT. She was born April 26, 1931 in Copperton, UT to Jacob Henry and Ada Jenkins Jensen. She met her eternal sweetheart and best friend, Edson Porter, at age 14 while living in Tooele and married Dec. 27, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from Jordan High School where she learned many skills, including shorthand. She and Ed moved to Wichita Falls, TX and started their family as Ed served several years in the Air Force. While raising her family of four boys and one girl, she worked in many different jobs - including school office admin and many years as a full-time employee at the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as ward relief society president and many other callings. Veda served a full-time mission with Ed in the Samoa, Apia mission. Following their mission they retired to Hurricane, UT.Veda was a unique woman who lived a life full of love, honor, hard work and humor. She was an intelligent, loving, loyal and dedicated woman. She had a wonderful singing voice and loved to sing hymns and other types of songs. She is survived by her children, Gregory (Wendella) Porter, Denver, CO, Sharon (Marco) Martinez, Patzcuaro, MX, Jeffrey (Marceen) Porter, Layton, UT, siblings Gayle Rowley, Green Bay, WI, and David Jensen, Sandy, UT, 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, sons Bruce and Dale, granddaughter Jessica, and siblings Mildred, Vivian, Jay, Pat and Barbara.Special thanks to, and deep gratitude for, the friends and staff at Seasons Health and Rehabilitation in St. George, UT for their loving and dedicated care of Veda over these past years.Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., with a viewing prior from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT.
