He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Smith and Eloise Taylor Smith. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Hugg Smith of Cape Girardeau; his children, Jimmy Smith (Beth) of Evansville, John Smith of Jackson, Jeff Smith of Jackson, Jerry Nunnally (Pam) of Cape Girardeau, Tommy Nunnally (Diane) of Cape Girardeau and Jessica Dohogne of Cape Girardeau; and his brothers-in-law, Rick Lantz of Strawberry, Danny Hugg (Brenda) of Strawberry, AR and Wayne Hugg of Costa Rica. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home (1001 N Mt Auburn Rd, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
